QUESTION 1:
Here comes Q1: What has changed most about job interviews in the past few years? Or… is it the same old grind to get a job? #InternProYouTern
A1: SM has changed interviews. Its easier for applicants to learn about the company and for recruiters to learn about applicant #internproLauren Kirkpatrick
A1: Job interviews have become more personal, I feel. Your CV gets employers’ attention but your personality reels ‘em in #InternProDiana Barbosa
Interviewees need to keep a eye on their online brand. Everything is now out in the open #internproJulie Feinerman
Truth! “@YouTernMark: Social media has changed recruiting a LOT, as has the respect given "culture" and "fit". Both good things. #InternPro”Kasandrea Sereno
A1 It’s easier 2 gather intel but putting it together into an interviewing strategy is still the Holy Grail for the candidate #internproSteve Levy
A1: Basically everyone has to do more homework, but you end up with a better fit in the end. #internproScott Keenan
QUESTION 2:
REPEAT: Q2: With today’s focus on “culture” and “fit”, can we change the perception that an interview is an “interrogation”? #InternProYouTern
A2: It’s up to YOU as the interviewee to change that perception. Do you research, be confident, know your stuff. #internproNailah
A2 To me, interviews r conversations. That’s the way we should see them. "Interrogation" makes me feel like I did something wrong #InternProDiana Barbosa
A2 Many hiring mgrs. perceive a candidate asking many questions as someone who is prepared and did his homework. <– Good thing! #internproCyndy Trivella
A2 candidates are more sensitive today. The HR manager is simply doing there job. It’s not personal! #internproJohn Muscarello
A2 frightening how bad interviews are today; this comes from the arrogance of companies who believe they are desirable to all #internproSteve Levy
A2.Interview is and should be a thorough exam. Everyone wants a job, but do you want to work where there is a bad fit? #InternproGuy Davis
Your social media presence can hint at your passion… it can’t show it for you. That’s what #IRL is for. #InternProMark Babbitt
@YouTern A2 interviews should be a conversation. If its more like an interrogation..maybe its not such a good fit. #internproCarol Chan
A2 Good preparation and research will make it much more of a conversation, bring your best game to the interview #InternProAmy Ruberg
QUESTION 3:
Q3: Well before we meet, HR knows a LOT about us through social media. How can we bring something new to the table? #InternProYouTern
A3: Stories and explanations of who are don’t fit into 140 characters! #internproLauren Kirkpatrick
Nice! 2PositiveTweets A 3 – Show your personality and SM skills during the interview. Verbalize how you add value to the company! #InternProYouTern
A3 #SM should not be a full disclosure of who you are. #internproCyndy Trivella
A3: New would be showing where what they know about you dovetails into the company. Accentuate the positive… #InternProTom Bolt
A3 Bring a folder that they can keep with your best work inside (make sure ur contact infos on folder) #internproJohn Muscarello
A3: Focus on bringing what can’t be found on social media – your personality, your drive, & your understanding of the company. #internproIsa Adney
A3 Walk in with a plan… What do you know about the problem they are trying to fix? How are you the answer? #InternProMark Babbitt
A3 – Experience gets your the interview, it’s your abililty to prove you can do the job that gets you the offer #InternProJeff Moore
QUESTION 4:
Q4: How important is “storytelling” during a job interview? Should most answers have a beginning, middle and end? #InternProYouTern
A4: Best story wins it all. I’m a big believer in a well crafted message to make a point. #InternProTom Bolt
A4: I don’t think "storytelling" matters as much as your understanding of where company problems begin and how you can end them. #internproIsa Adney
A4: Focus! Clear, concise, coherent, bacon (just threw that in to see if you are paying attention) #InternProTom Bolt
A4 – Story telling is fine, but more importantly make sure you are telling the RIGHT stories. Relevant and Real #InternProJeff Moore
A4 – As long as the story is short, concise and relevant with a clear point, it may help someone stand out at a job interview. #InternProCareerGoods
A4: Tell me you are a team-player, I’ll think "ho-hum". Tell me a compelling, quantified story and I’ll think "Winner!". #InternProMark Babbitt
A4: Storytelling is very important. State the task, discuss how you worked through it, then end with results. #InternProNick LaRosa
A4: KNOW your story though. Rambling on does more harm than good. Practice ahead of time #InternProDave Ellis
A4 All stories should have a begining, middle and ending. In the case of job interviews: S-T-A-R is the formula. #internproCyndy Trivella
QUESTION 5:
Q5: Contemporary job interview advice includes “research the recruiter”. Other than LinkedIn how do we best do that? #InternProYouTern
A5: Start off with a basic Google search. You can find blogs, social media presences, websites etc. Research is important! #internproBarney Carleton
A5 Read their Twitter stream. You can find out a lot about their personality and interests. #internproJohn Muscarello
Always google search and don’t give up after the first page. Sometimes the good stuff/real stuff is on page 5 or 6. #internproJulie Feinerman
A5. LI is great but there’s more to SoMe than that…FB, Twitter, Pinterest (i said it!), Chime. In, tumblr..see where they are! #InternProKara Singh
1. LinkedIn 2. Google 3. Twitter | Complete these 3 steps and you’ll be ahead of about 95% of all your competition. #InternProMark Babbitt
A5: Floats my boat if someone I’m interviewing has read my blog :-) #InternProTom Bolt
A5 Industry journals, professional groups, alumni connections–know their challenges and growth spots #InternProAmy Ruberg
News I can use! @YouTernMark It’s not stalking until you’re served with a restraining order. Do the damn research! #InternProPatrick Warfield
QUESTION 6:
Q6: I felt I nailed it… and heard zilch. Other times I bombed… and got a job offer. How do I know when I’m winning? #InternProYouTern
@YouTern We can only control what we do, not how others react to it. As long as we’re improving, things will improve. #internproTim
A6: As with most things the more experience you have the better you get at judging the situation. #internproLauren Kirkpatrick
Mind. Blown. @ScottKeenan27: A6: sometimes you did win, but someone else won more. #internproDave Ellis
Q6: No matter how well you think you did, always be prepared to move on. #internproQian
QUESTION 7:
Q7: What’s the trickiest, stupidest or hardest question you’ve received during an interview? And how did you answer? #InternProYouTern
I haven’t gotten anything worse than "what would lebron james tweet in a movie theater?" Nothing has topped that yet #internproJulie Feinerman
A7 "Why should we hire you?" Felt a little like re-stating a thesis, how to touch on strong suits w/o just recycling same info #internproPatrick Warfield
A7 Trickiest: Why did U not get a job in the past that U really wanted? Describe what U did wrong? #InternproCyndy Trivella
My fav is "Tell me about a time you took a risk and FAILED. What did you learn about that experience" #InternPro #FailureisanoptionJeff Moore
A7: Stupidest…no one asked any questions. I had to interrupt them to tell them about myself. #internproScott Keenan
A7 – The hardest interview question is "what would your previous employer say your biggest weakness is?" #InternProDr. Antoine D. Moss
A7 if I talked to someone who didn’t like you, what would they tell me. Or pretend this isn’t a (salt shaker) sell it to me #internproKasandrea Sereno
A7:"Last chance to wow me-go" Told the story of how I helped raise $35,000 for charity during Greek Week and what I learned #internproLauren Kirkpatrick
A7 Would you like my job? ~ #internproCASUDI
A7: Regardless of question asked, expect a follow-up. Tough to be consistent if you are trying to fake it. It shows. #InternProTom Bolt
QUESTION 8:
Q8: We all need a little help… What’s your ONE piece of never-ever-fails advice for those about to interview? #InternProYouTern
A8 Prepare, prepare, prepare. #InternproCyndy Trivella

A8 when they ask if I any any q’s, I ask the interviewer(s) why they like the company; what makes them stay? End interview on a + #internproKasandrea Sereno
A8: Remember, the interviewer is a person just like you. They may have had a bad day, or could be just as nervous as you! #internproNailah
A8. Practice makes perfect! It can only get better if you keep practicing! #InternProKara Singh
A8: Be confident. A good interviewer is nothing to be afraid of. #internproRob McGahen
A8: Job-hunting is alot like dating. People can smell desperation from a mile away. #internproQian
A8: Knowledge is power. Know yourself and what you want. Know what interviewer needs. Know how to marry the two together. #InternProTom Bolt
MUST compete! Get a little fired up, get a little moxie going. Then, walk in with humble confidence and NAIL it! #InternProMark Babbitt
A8: Match your resume, do the ‘research’ and ‘let them know how valuable you are’. You will either get it or learn from it. #InternProJulia Gabor
