Our most frequently asked questions for Candidates...
How much does it cost to use YouTern? YouTern is free for internship candidates, and parents. Can I search for internships before I register, or subscribe? Absolutely! We want you to feel comfortable with YouTern, and don’t require you to register until you’re ready to apply for an intern position.
Will YouTern sell my personal information? Absolutely Not! YouTern won’t sell, distribute, disseminate or otherwise intentionally provide access to your information by third parties.
Is YouTern a staffing or placement firm? YouTern is not a staffing or placement service. Our role is to provide internship seekers with access to positions available at start-ups and entrepreneurial companies, and to present helpful employment related resources. |

Can I apply for internships online with YouTern?
Once logged into your account, you’re able to send your resume, cover letter and any applicable attachments directly to employers offering internship opportunities.
Are the internships I will find on YouTern "paid" positions?
You will find that many employers offer paid internships on YouTern. Some employers offer college credit and others are un-paid positions. YouTern strongly encourages our employers to offer paid positions; however, responsibility for providing compensation is entirely the employers.
How do I change my login email and / or password?
Just log into your YouTern account using your current login email and password. On your My Account page, click the 'Edit' button in the My Profile section. Update your login email or password and click 'Save' at the bottom of the page.
The next time you log into YouTern, use your updated login email and password.
How can I retrieve my password if I forgot it?
On the sign in page, click the 'Forgot Password' link. Enter your email address and the site will automatically send your information to you. If you have trouble, email us at support@youtern.com and we'll be happy to assist you.
When I apply for internships online, are my applications stored for me?
Once you're logged in, from your My Account page you may review your applications at any time in the My Applications section.
Can I save jobs and read them in detail later?
Each internship opportunity provides the option to save it to your personal account. Access to your saved jobs is easy through your My Account page.
Can I upload my resume as a document for employers to read?
Your resume is uploaded as a Word document or a PDF. If you plan to target different industry categories, you’re able to upload several separate versions of your resume.
How can I be notified when new internships are posted?
You create Intern Alerts that email internship opportunities based on the exact criteria you choose. You can have Alerts sent to you either daily or weekly.
Should I send my financial information or social security number to an employer?
At some point, late in the hiring process, this information may be required by an employer for legal or tax purposes.
However, legitimate employers will never ask candidates to pay for opportunities, and will not ask for any financial and / or social security information until after you are hired.
