| Internship Description: | Rays Digest is looking for writer interns to assist with coverage of the Rays' minor league system in 2012. This would be an excellent opportunity for a Journalism major or college student who is looking to add professional writing experience to their resume. The opportunity also offers the privilege of being published on a major website that is part of the Scout.com/FoxSports.com network and the potential to develop contacts within minor league baseball for future jobs and/or positions. We are looking for coverage in the following areas and markets: Raleigh/Durham, NC to cover the AAA Durham Bulls Montgomery,AL to cover the AA Montgomery Biscuits Bowling Green, KY to cover the Low A Bowling Green Hot Rods Hudson Valley area to cover the Short-Season A Hudson Valley Renegades Northern Virginia or Southern West Virginia to cover the Rookie Princeton Rays Interns from each area will effectively serve as beat reporters for Rays Digest during the 2012 season and must be available from April through the end of August. These positions are unpaid, but course credit for your school is available. Each intern will be responsible for providing a minimum of two pieces of content a week. One piece being a weekly recap of the team you are covering and the other a feature story on a topical item of news or an interview with a player, coach, or front office member. You may also be asked to do special assignments on short notice. Some other basic requirements are a good working knowledge of baseball statistics, proficiency in social media - and of course - above average writing ability. Special consideration will be given to candidates who are bi-lingual in Spanish and/or good photographers. Assistance will be given in helping obtain press credentials and in establishing contacts within the organization.
