Internship Description: 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist and support marketing staff with marketing and sales process, including research, event planning, sponsorship sales, event and contest promotions, and onsite event support and logistics (including set up and breakdown).
  • Assist Marketing and other departments with general administrative duties and overall department organization
  • Provide support to marketing on various projects as needed (e.g. gift bag stuffing, event operations, deliveries and pickups, etc.)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be an effective listener and communicator
  • Have a keen eye for detail and be well organized
  • Have excellent writing abilities and a command of grammar
  • Have exceptional time-management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once (work with a sense of urgency)
  • Have a passion and motivation to learn through firsthand experience.
  • Possess a positive, team-player attitude and take pride in each assigned task
  • Maintain a professional, upbeat demeanor when interacting or appearing on ALIVE’s behalf
  • Be flexible and willing to fill in on short notice
  • Ability to think independently and foresee issues and/or problems
  • Photoshop and InDesign skills a plus

 

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Must be available for in-office hours – Approx 10 hrs/week
  • Must be available for after-office hours (event coordination and promoting) – Approx 10 hrs/month
  • Must be reliable, on time and committed to a schedule
  • Students not completing internship for school credit must alert supervisor 3 weeks prior to end of internship
  • Interns must dress appropriately for office hours and events

 

SKILLS ACQUIRED UPON INTERNSHIP COMPLETION:

  • Awareness of the many facets of how a major publication markets itself
  • Acquire knowledge of event planning, management and promotions
  • Develop written and oral communication skills
  • Networking and relationship-building skills
  • Opportunity to build and develop your professional portfolio
